Petitioning the FDA.

January 6, 2009

Ready for a bit of diabetes advocacy? Several O.C. bloggers (Amy Tenderich, Scott Strumello, Kerri Morrone Sparling, etc.) and several influential diabetes community members (Dr. Steve Edelman, Kelly Close, Dr. Fran Kaufman, etc.) have co-sponsored a petition to the FDA.

As Manny Hernandez says in his email to me, “The message is simple.”

“We urge the new FDA leadership to recognize the urgent need for more safe and effective treatment options for diabetes and to reduce barriers to innovation. More treatment options will benefit patients. The disease is progressive. Delays in the availability of new treatments will only result in tremendous cost to public health and the economy. Our recommendation can benefit patients without sacrificing their safety.”

You can watch a video to find out more about the FDA petition or you can head over to Heal the FDA to sign the petition.

I’m also a co-sponsor of the petition, so I strongly urge everyone to sign this petition. We have a goal of 20,000 signatures by February 16, so send this out to your friends, family, co-workers, parents of your kid’s friends, everyone!

Thanks!

Thanks Allison for the info — I passed it on to my family and asked them to all sign, as well as pass the info along.
