I was hoping I wasn’t going to have to do this, but apparently, I am because I’ve been getting so many crappy PR pitches lately that I feel it necessary to do something about it if only to protect my own sanity.
If you are a PR professional, someone from a company and/or someone looking to share their product and/or service with me, please keep the following in mind:
This blog is about Type 1 diabetes. If your pitch does not directly relate to Type 1 diabetes, please make sure you tell me why the heck you’re ignoring the fact this blog is about Type 1 diabetes and emailing me.
If you’re hoping to get “lucky” save yourself some time and don’t pitch me.
I do not usually write about products just because someone sends me an e-mail about their new magical herbs. Keep in mind that I have type 1 diabetes and that anything related to preventing diabetes is not welcomed here.
I love hearing about non-profit organizations and ways that people are trying to help the community. If you have an event that you are promoting to raise awareness about diabetes, I would love to hear about it.
I think blogger programs are awesome. If it’s diabetes or health related, feel free to invite me.
However, my editorial policy is, as of right now, to not accept money for a hit. You can pay for me to go to something, but I reserve the right to disclose that relationship and I reserve the right to write a bad review if I think your product and/or event isn’t good. You’ve been warned.
My name is spelled A-L-L-I-S-O-N. Please use my name in a pitch. It shows you’ve read these PR guidelines and that makes me happy.
