Watched it: at home on my new DVD player!

I thought: it was very thought-provoking and controversial, with amazing performances from the lead actors.

I would recommend it to: people who are interested in the psychology of characters - regardless of whether they agree with them or not and who are not easily offended by nudity and sexual topics.

I give it: 3 stars

4. 27 Dresses

Watched it: at the movie theater.

I thought: it was adorable, very funny and one of the best romantic comedies since The Holiday and Hitch.

I would recommend it to: people who love good romantic comedies.

Watched it: at home.

I thought: it was a darling movie about love, hope and the difference between reality and perceptions, with a funky fantasy twist.

I would recommend it to: people who are fans of Moulin Rouge, only without singing.

6. The Lives of Others

Watched it: at home.

I thought: it was a fantastically well-acted drama about a time and a place that I knew very little about (mid 1980s East Germany), though I did miss about five minutes towards the end due to a crappy DVD but I think I got the gist of what happened.

I would recommend it to: people who love foreign films and/or historic films.

I give it: 4 stars

7. Eastern Promises

Watched it: at home.

I thought: it was a little more violent than I’m used to so parts made me cringe a bit, but it was very suspenseful and interesting, though the accents were very heavy so I watched almost all of it using subtitles.

I would recommend it to: people who like dark dramas and Viggo Mortensen.

I give it: 3 stars

8. St. Elmo’s Fire

Watched it: at home.

I thought: it was funny, but nothing exceptional, and it was cool to see all the actors when they were younger.

I would recommend it to: people who like 80s movies.

I give it: 2.5 stars

9. Definitely, Maybe

Watched it: at the theater.

I thought: it was cute, charming and hilarious and Abigail Breslin is awesome! The whole theater would laugh in unison.

I would recommend it to: people who like romantic comedies and adorable child actors.

I give it: 3 stars
